The Teacher Training Program is for students wishing to:

  • Attain more peace, knowledge and inner confidence.

  • Increase the gift of health and vitality to yourself and those around you.

  • Grow with like-minded individuals.

  • Gain strength and flexibility through Iyengar yoga.

The Directors

Valery Petrich

• Founder of The Yoga Studio of Calgary, The Yoga Studio College of Canada and Kripa West Charity
• Currently Director of The Yoga Studios North and Co Director of The Yoga Studio College
• Producer, educator and speaker on yoga and meditation and it’s successful application to teachers in training, addictions and recovery, performance athletes, chronic ailments, palliative care.

Valery is a visionary and entrepreneur often shaping the face of yoga in western Canada. She writes yoga curriculums for various settings including educational, health and wellness and corporate. Her mentorship to over 400 teacher trainees has created an active network of programs across Canada, committed to raising and maintaining a standard of excellence and professionalism.

Rob Walker

• Director of The Yoga Studio South, Wellington Square and JCC
• Co-Director of The Yoga Studio College of Canada, which, since 1996 has trained students, therapists and medical professionals in a year and a half certified teacher training program

An Internationally certified Iyengar Yoga teacher at the fourth level, Rob sees yoga as a lifelong path of learning. This passion took him on three five-week trips to Pune, India, in 2003, 2005 and 2007, to study intensively with the Iyengar family at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute.

A yoga student since 1981 and a teacher of yoga since 1997, Robert has a passionate and vigorous style, encouraging students to challenge their perceived limits and to see yoga as more than asana. He is fascinated with Yoga philosophy, particularly the Advaita Vedanta teachings of Ramesh Balsekar of Mumbai and the late Nisargadatta Maharaj.

He has studied with Geeta and Prashant Iyengar in India, Margot Kitchen in Calgary, Felicity Green and Shirley Daventry-French in Mexico and Victoria.

Yoga Studio Certified, Yoga Association of Alberta Certified, Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada Certified.

Students are required to complete the following prerequisites in 2010 to prepare for admission.

(For those registering late, these modules may be picked up in Fall 2011.)

$3,800.00 (NO GST)

$1000 Deposit due upon completion of application and acceptance into program.

Balance due November 1, 2010.
